Codemasters has secured the official World Rally Championship License, but don’t get too excited: the deal will see the British developer hold the license from 2023 until 2027.

According to GamesIndustry.biz , the studio behind the Colin McCrae and Dirt series of racing games will develop and publish titles based on the FIA World Rally Championship series over five years, as well as organising the games’ esports scene.

It’ll be a busy few years for Codemasters, who have also committed to both Dirt 5 and a new game from the Dirt Rally team over the next few years. The first WRC game from the studio (the IP was previously held by BigBen Interactive) is currently due to arrive during the 2023 financial year.Tags: .
